GOOGLE ANDROID 'DONUT' SDK RELEASED TO DEVELOPERS

 

The next major update for the Android platform may be available soon. Google has announced that developers may now avail of the software developer kit of Android version 1.6 or 'Donut'. This new software version is expected to provide new features to existing and upcoming Android devices in October.

MOTOROLA CLIQ COMING TO T-MOBILE IN OCTOBER?

 

The recent Motorola CLIQ announcement revealed that the Android-powered phone is headed for T-Mobile but the exact release date was not revealed. Fortunately, release dates have a tendency to leak and the folks at BGR have obtained information indicating that the upcoming Android phone will land in October.

THE LG GW620 GOOGLE ANDROID PHONE BECOMES OFFICIAL

 

Here's the second Google Android phone that has become official this month. LG has officially introduced the GW620, the company's first Google Android-powered smartphone. The LG GW620 features a sideways slider form factor with a 3-inch full touchscreen and full QWERTY keyboard. The press release did not share a lot of information on this upcoming Android smartphone but it did reveal that the handset will be available in select European markets during the fourth quarter of this year.

THE ANDROID-POWERED MOTOROLA CLIQ FOR T-MOBILE BECOMES OFFICIAL

 

Motorola has unveiled its first Android-powered smartphone today at the GigaOM Mobilize 2009 Conference in San Francisco. The Motorola CLIQ is an Android-powered device that features a sideways slider design with a 3.1-inch HVGA touch-screen display and a full QWERTY keyboard. This newly introduced device will come with the new MOTOBLUR management service and will be available at T-Mobile later this year.

While the release of the official Android Facebook application was a couple days ago, now Pandora for Android is available in the Market.  Pandora is a music streaming service that recommends popular music based on similar fan likes and dislikes.  When first loading the app users will be required to login or create a new account; once signed in users can see saved radio stations or begin creating new stations by searching for their favorite song or artist.

The official Facebook app for Android is out in the Market.  The application is absolutly free.  Some features include a facebook phonebook folder that stores all of your facebook friends' numbers, shake to refresh, and a widget to add to home screen.  The homescreen widget allows users to update their status, check out the news feed, look at walls and user info.  Download the app today from the Market, just search 'facebook'.

Two upcoming Motorola Google phones have been revealed a couple of days before the manufacturer's big Android event. The XML handsets profiles of the Motorola MB200 and M300 have been revealed before the big day.
