Ok, how would I change the email address in google maps. My wife and I somehow pput the same gmail account in and now I can't change it to my gmail account. Is there a way to delete the email that is wrong and enter my name and my email?

Best method:
Settings->Applications->Manage Applications
Gmail->Clear Data
Gmail Storage->Clear Data
Google Apps->Clear Data
Go to Gmail, you will be asked to sign in.
Note: This works for locked and unlocked rooted and non-rooted phones, will not brick, de-root, or re-lock your phone, works in versions 1.5+ and 2.0+ of Android, works with google-hosted domain accounts (i.e., yourname@yourdomain.com) and is generally the accepted way of reassociating your phone with a new google account.
switch Gmail accounts on Google Talk for Android
A hard re-set (erasing everything) is not required to switch Gmail accounts using Google Talk on Android..
I followed the instructions under "Quick", (above) and it worked.
I'm using Android on a Sprint HTC Hero.
Settings->Applications->Manage Applications
(Under this menu you do 3 different things:)
1.) Gmail->Clear Data
2.) Gmail Storage->Clear Data
3.) Google Apps->Clear Data
I turned my phone off & back on again, launched Google Talk and was prompted to sign in with my Gmail username & password. Worked well.

But if you clear all the caches, will the phone become locked? Because recently id did a factory reset because of some different problems and I gave it to a shop who eventually arranged it because whenever I tried to use the phone it kept asking me for a google account. I tried to insert a google account and to create one but it kept telling me that i had no network connection. Therefore I went for I gave my cell phone to a professional and he inserted his email and now I can't use anything. I had to pay a lot of money for him to arrange it after the factory reset. I don't want to do anything wrong again. Thats why Im asking if the clearing caches of all sections would do anything harmful to the cell phone. Please help and thanks!

Doesnt give me an option to clear cache on Google APPs, so when I clear GMAIL, GMAIL Storage, Google TALK, Gtalk Storage) and then start GMAIL or GTALK it still gets my old settings. Have a DROID, dont know if anything is diff with it though. Let me know how to change my primary gmail account then. Thanks

Change gmail account w/o reset.
It's simple, just go to your google account, change password, reboot phone, go to contacts, change sync groups, setup new account, go to settings->apps.. clear data like they said before, go to gmail and setup new password. DONE.

Changing Gmail account without hard reset
Hi,
If you want to change your primary gmail account for Gmail, its much easier.
Don not hard reset means set to factory defaults , by erasing all data and application , instead go to
1. Settings -> Applications ->Manage Applications ->
Here you have to clear data from
1. Gmail
2. Gmail Storage
3. Gppgle Apps
4. Google talk and Talk services
5. and IM.
clearing data is much simple just click on aplication and clear data.

I just got a G1 and set it up with my origianl email address but have been getting alot of junk mail so I created a new account and did not want to have to reset everything I have just done and lose all of my apps. Thank you so much for this post. Made my day. :-)

I did this but it was like chasing a mouse!
You need to make sure all 4 of these are reset to "0"K
Gmail "0"K
Gmail storage "0"K
Google apps "0"K
google search "0"K
Gmail Storage keeps trying to re create itself so you have to make sure all 4 are clear before you exit application manager.
Then open Gmail and it asks you to start and no reset is needed.

Changing gmail account w/o hard rest
Replying to someone who stated that you can change your email from your settings, I ask you this, how do you do that? I looked in the settings, both the gmail and the actual phone settings and in neither of those areas did I find a place to change it. If it wasn't for the fact that I have my contacts and calender set on the g-1 already I'd ok, but a hard reset is not an option for me. Any other suggestions?
