ANDROID 2.1 UPDATE COMING TO MOTOROLA DROID?

 

Here's some good news for Motorola DROID users. It appears that they will not miss out on the Android 2.1 software that's featured on the newly launched Nexus One. Motorola CEO Sanjay Jha appeared on the Nexus One launch at the "Android Press Gathering" and expressed that he "thinks" they will update the Droid to OS 2.1.

The known features for Android 2.1 include:

  • first-party 3D accelerated apps
  • live wallpapers
  • Google Maps Navigation: offering turn-by-turn driving directions with voice output
  • multiple Gmail accounts; universal inbox and Exchange support
  • aggregate contacts from multiple sources, including Facebook.
  • easily switch between communication and social applications
