A new social networking-centric smartphone might find its way to AT&T within a week. According to the folks at BGR, the carrier might launch the HTC ChaCha as the Status in the coming weeks. The source of this rumor also indicated that AT&T might launch the Android smartphone as soon as one week from now. This upcoming AT&T cell phone features a rounded "Facebook button" at the bottom of the phone and runs on Android 2.3.3. It will sport a 2.6 inch HVGA display, a 5MP camera, a VGA front-facing camera, a physical QWERTY keyboard and an 800MHz processor. The HTC Status has already gained approval from the FCC. The name change from ChaCha to the Status was probably triggered by the trouble that stem from the original brand name. Stay tuned for more updates on the HTC Status. |
