We've heard rumors about the iPhone heading for Verizon Wireless but it may end up staying on a GSM network. According to the folks at TheStreet, T-Mobile might snag the iPhone when AT&T's exclusive access to Apple's hit handset expires. It appears that T-Mobile is a better candidate to get the rights to sell the coveted mobile phone. For instance, T-Mobile is a GSM/HSDPA carrier, so Apple won't have to manufacture to make a special handset for a CDMA/EV-DO network. T-Mobile is already selling the iPhone in Germany and Apple might have taken offense to Verizon's aggressive efforts to market the Motorola DROID against its product. However, Verizon might still be able to sell an LTE iPhone since it will be rolling out the next generation network next year. [Via: TmoNews] |
