The HTC DROID Incredible is the current top dog in the Verizon Wireless line-up but Motorola might be on the verge of releasing its second high-end DROID smarphone. Circulating rumors talk of an unannounced Motorola handset that might replace last year's DROID. A device called the Motorola DROID Shadow is rumored to be a high-end Android handset that will challenge other heavyweights in the smartphone arena.

The latest info indicate that this upcoming Verizon phone will feature a 4.3″ touchscreen display, Snapdragon processor, 16GB internal storage, Android 2.1 or 2.2, MOTOBLUR, 8 MP camera with 720p video recording capabilities and a HDMI port.

Let's round-up the Motorola DROID Shadow rumors after the break.

The first image of this device surfaced at a Taiwanese forum last year. The image showed a device that allegedly measures 9mm thickness and comes with all the features mentioned above.

Then circulating rumors begin to speculate if this handset will be the Nexus Two with sliding QWERTY keyboard. Two more images of the device also surfaced and show a handset that resembles the DROID with a white keyboard and wrist strap.

Then a leaked handset called the Motorola MB810 gained Wi-Fi certification (PDF) and triggered more rumors. This handset mirrors the DROID Shadow and offers a 4.3-inch capacitive touchscreen, an eight megapixel camera with HD video capability, and a slider QWERTY keyboard.

The Motorola DROID Shadow rumors were revitalized when a draft copy of a user guide for a new DROID handset for Verizon was leaked on the web.

Then a live image of the Motorola DROID Shadow was leaked afer its user guide was posted online. This leak comes with an interesting story. Apparently, this device was lying around in a Verizon corporate gym. The story goes that a gym employee managed to snap the photo below and confirm the features that include a HDMI jack, 8 megapixel camera, Snapdragon processor, and 16GB of storage before the handset was remotely locked and the owner returned to claim it.

Tune in as we bring you the latest Verizon Motorola DROID Shadow rumors and news.
