SAMSUNG'S NEWEST ANDROID DEVICE BECOMES THE FIRST TRIAL HANDSET FOR MOBILE DIGITAL TV IN THE U.S

Sprint's Samsung Moment was as already a customer favorite even before its live demonstration at the International CES 2010 in Las Vegas. However, the sleek Smartphone gained more attention at the event as it was chosen to be equipped with the world's first single-chip solution for local programming - Samsung’s Mobile DTV Chip. Naturally, Samsung was honored to have its new device as the first trial handset for mobile digital TV in the U.S.

Omar Khan, Samsung's chief strategy officer stated, “It is incredibly rewarding to see one of Samsung Mobile’s flagship devices be integrated with the Samsung ATSC Mobile DTV chip that’s giving the power and potential of free, live mobile digital TV to our U.S. Customers”

The Open Mobile Video Coalition (OMVC) handpicked the Samsung Moment to receive local broadcast from eight local TV stations including direct access to local news, weather, emergency information, and other entertainment programs. The phone is one of the elite members of a new breed of portable web access device that offers access to built-in Google mobile services, including Google Search, Google Maps, Gmail and YouTube plus thousands of mobile applications available in the Android market.
