SAYGUS VPHONE: FIRST OPEN DEVELOPMENT HANDSET FOR VERIZON WIRELESS

 

An open development lnitiative handset will be headed for Verizon Wireless. The Saygus VPhone is an Android powered handset that features some impressive specs including a 3.5-inch, 800 x 480 pixel, high resolution capacitive touch display, a 5 megapixel main camera and a 624MHz PXA310 XScale processor.

However, the highlight feature for this upcoming Verizon cell phone is the two-way video calling service that allows a users to share a live video feed. This upcoming Android smartphone is also an ODI device, which means that it will not be burdened by the restrictions placed on Verizon's regular handsets and support applications such as VoIP via the 3G network.

The Saygus VPhone open development handset for Verizon Wireless is expected to be available on late 2009 or early 2010 through most of the carrier's sales channels.
