AT&T will have to offer a competitive smartphone line-up this year if the carrier loses its exclusive deal to sell the Apple iPhone as suggested by circulating rumors. The carrier needs to make-up for the loss of the iPhone if Apple's prized handset migrates to rival US wireless carriers. AT&T appears to have made preparations for this scenario by jumping into the Google Android bandwagon. The carrier has already announced a few upcoming phones for this year but leaks and rumors have also supplied several exciting devices. Let's look at the upcoming AT&T phones for 2010.
Motorola Olympus: This upcoming A&T smartphone is expected to feature a 4-inch screen, a front-facing camera, rear-facing camera with flash, and HDMI-out port. The leaked Motorola Olympus is seen running on Android 2.2 with the BLUR interface. Previous reports indicate that this smartphone will feature a dual-core Tegra 2 processor, Bluetooth 2.1 + EDR and dual-band 802.11 a/b/g/n WiFi.
HTC Paradise: This upcoming Android smartphone appears to be a mid-range smartphone that features a side-slider design with a four-row QWERTY keyboard, 3.2 megapixel camera and 3.5 inch touch display. Other features include an optical joystick, HTC Sense, 3G, Wi-Fi, GPS, 3.5mm headset jack, FM radio, and MicroSD card support.
Asus E600: This upcoming AT&T cell phone runs on Windows Phone 7 and features a WVGA touchscreen display of around 4 inches and a 5.2MP autofocus camera with LED flash. The key features for the Asus E600 will also include Wi-Fi, GPS, 3.5mm headset jack, MicroSD card support, and a 1300 mAh battery.
Acer Liquid Metal: This handset is an Android 2.2 smartphone that features a 3.6-inch, WVGA (800 x 480) capacitive touchscreen, an 800 MHz Qualcomm Second Generation Snapdragon processor and a 5 megapixel camera with an LED Flash and HD video recording. This smartphone also offers a 3.5mm headset jack, HSPA 14.4Mbps, WiFi n, 3G, Bluetooth connectivity, built-in Facebook and Twidroid applications, DLNA/UPnP support, and Dolby Surround Sound.
Nokia X7: This upcoming AT&T phone is a Symbian^3 smatphone with a 4-inch form factor and an 8 megapixel camera with a dual-led flash and dedicated camera button. IT is also being rumored to be a multimedia centric handset with 4 speakers.
BlackBerry 9780: This upcoming AT&T phone is similar to the 9700 but provides improvements such as a 5 MP camera, BlackBerry OS 6 and 512MB RAM. Image Credit: BerryReview
