ALLTEL DOMINATES WIRELESS CALL QUALITY RANKINGS

In the latest J.D. Power and Associates wireless call quality rankings, Alltel Corp. performed impressively according to RCR Wireless news. The regional wireless operator ranked very high in the of the six regions covered by the report. Alltel was able to surpass other major carriers such as Verizon Wireless. The research mesured dropped calls, static/interference, voice distortion, echoes, and other factors to rank the service providers that offered the best wireless call quality.
Alltel Wireless took the highest call quality spots in the Southeast and West region. It shared the top spot with T-Mobile USA for highest in the Southwest. The Northeast and Mid-Atlantic regions were dominated by Verizon Wireless, and U.S. Cellular was judged as having the highest wireless call quality in the North Central region. The J.D. Power and associates study also indicated that CDMA-based operators performed better than GSM-based carriers. The study also found that 3G handsets experienced fewer call-quality issues than earlier-generation devices.
