APPLE AND AT&T BRING BACK AT-HOME IPHONE ACTIVATION (FINALLY!)

One of the great things about the original iPhone was the fact that you could order it (or go pick it up in an Apple or AT&T store) and take it home and activate it yourself via iTunes. No dealing with people. No calling customer service. It was all done through iTunes. It was seamless. It was simple. It was wonderful.

Then came the iPhone 3G. And at-home activation was no more. You had to go to an Apple or AT&T store and have an employee activate it for you. It caused long lines, confusion amongst customers and staff. It was just bad. And it was a total pain in the neck after a year of being able to do it yourself at home.

But now, it's back! Thank Jeebus.

Seriously though, as of now it looks like it only works if you order it from the AT&T online store and only if you're setting up a new account (no upgrading your family plan for you).

Still though, it's a very welcome change to the ways of yesteryear. I only have to ask: What took them so long?
