With WES underway RIM has released BlackBerry Enterprise Server (BES) 5.0 for business consumers. This new version adds a web-based administration console eliminating the use of the command line interface. The administrator is then able to delegate tasks out to other users allowing them to access functions that are only necessary. BES 5.0 also features integration with corporate email systems: Lotus Domino, Microsoft Exchange and Novell GroupWise. Perhaps the most fascinating improvement is the push content API. Now BlackBerry users can receive update notifications to their applications without having to lift a finger. Lastly, users will have access to Windows network file shares that allows them to edit, view, email and more from their handsets. |
