BLOCKBUSTER, MICROSOFT TO TEAM UP ON MOBILE CONTENT?
Submitted by Noe on Tue, 12/02/2008 - 13:56.Bookmark/Search this post with: ![]() The news (rumors at this point, perhaps) today are that Blockbuster is looking to partner with Microsoft for streaming feature film content to cell phones, in a sort of "one-up" to Netflix, with whom Microsoft partnered with for streaming movies to their XBOX 360 gaming console. The news was broke by the Dallas Morning News (which happens to be where Blockbuster is based). "Eventually, we'll give customers instant access to any movie on any device with an Internet connection and a screen," said Keith Morrow, CIO of Blockbuster. The article goes on to detail the tech behind the potential mobile service, and says it should run on top of Microsoft's new service dubbed "Live Mesh" which allows for data synchronization across multiple different devices. Windows Mobile is currently a Live Mesh supported OS. I suppose we'll just have to wait and see, but it would be awesome if this got here soon. The sooner the better! |
