CES WIRELESS FOCUSES ON MOBILE VIDEO
Submitted by andy on Thu, 01/08/2009 - 20:48.Bookmark/Search this post with: The first day of the mindblender experience that the Consumer Electrioncs (CES) Show of Las Vegas 2009 is nearing the end and the clear winning theme that is emerging in the wireless areas is mobile video. The companies with the overcrowded press release rooms, crowded booths, and lots of coverage are offering mobile video in one way or another. I have already covered the Open Movile Video Coalitoin (OMVC) Direct Video press release today (CES 2009), and since then I have spoken to Slingbox and walked by several video offerings. When I stopped by the Clearwire booth, the talk there was broadband capable of downloading - and uploading - video. The other dark horse of the show, just as Mr. Matt had predicted was Palm. It had generated a ton of buzz about its realease. I will blog more about that later and post videos on the new device - which looked awesome! Keep an eye out on our Palm smart phone comparison page as well as our updated CES coverage here on the 611 blog for more Palm details. Anectodally, several folks I had spoken noticed a decline in CES 2009 attendance. One unofficial source predicted that although the CES 2009 organizers predicted 140,000 participants, he doesn't think the actual number is over 95,000.
