FCC APPROVES THE SAMSUNG OMNIA HD!

The Samsung Omnia HD is one of the top handsets that were launched at the MWC in Barcelona and it seems that this cool touchscreen cellphone is headed for US stores. According to the folks at Engadget, the Samsung Omnia HD has gained the approval of the FCC making it a step closer to being avalable in the US.

Unfortunately, the FCC has only approved the Samsung Omnia HD with 1900MHz 3G band for North America. This is a big disappointment for those who were hoping that the Samsung Omnia HD will have 850/1900 bands for North American 3G networks. Perhaps an unlocked version with those highly desired 3G bands will be offered by US stores.

Here's a short list of features for those unfamiliar with the Samsung Omnia HD:

  • 3.7″ AMOLED display
  • Symbian S6o Touch OS
  • 8 megapixel camera (able to record and play HD resolution video)
  • 8/16GB built-in memory (depending on model)
  • microSDHC card support up to 48GB of storage
  • Wi-Fi
  • 1500 mAh battery
