HTC MAGIC + T-MOBILE AMERICA = T-MOBILE MYTOUCH

Engadget Mobile has just received a boatload of box art for the upcoming US release of the HTC Magic, henceforth known as the T-Mobile MyTouch, and not the G2. More after the jump.

The very official-looking, grungy boxart provides several tidbits towards this upcoming release. For one thing, T-Mobile is really hyping up their 3G network (I mean, look at the phone's screen), maybe hinting that the current network will receive some sort of upgrade in the coming weeks to prepare for this phone's launch. The box also has a very different design than the rest of the T-Mobile family (even the other music phones). It appears as if T-Mobile is marketing this sucker towards the Sidekick crowd rather than the Blackberry crowd. And speaking of the younger audience, "fully customizable" appears in the feature list, and as the tipster showed, there are multiple colors of this phone that will be available.

Unfortunately, the box art does not show any information concerning the price or release date of the phone, though the box art's existence and Engadget Mobile hinting at a release between now and the beginning of August. As for the price, one could only assume that it will be similar to that of the T-Mobile G1 -- $179 with a 2-year-contract, and $399 without.
