IPHONE SALES OVERTAKES WINDOWS MOBILE SALES

According Gartner, an information technology research and advisory firm, a study they've conducted conducted shows that "iPhone sales exceeded sales of Microsoft Windows Mobile devices worldwide and in North America." Powered by strong iPhone 3G sales, the Mac OS X is now ranked third in the global OS provider rankings.The study also revealed that the global Smartphone market reached its weakest year-on-year growth in the 3rd qurter of 2008. Gartners' global Smartphone market research also indicated that Nokia still own the biggest share of the market and RIM BlackBerry phone sales experienced a significant increase. The Gartner study on the global Smartphone market also predicted that open-source initiatives like Android and Symbian Foundation will pose a challenge to Windows Mobile's licensing model in the short-term. |
