According to DigiTimes.com, LG has become the third-largest cell phone maker by outselling Motorola and Sony Ericsson. LG sold 100 million handsets in 2008, overtaking Motorola by just 100,000 handsets. Nokia retained the top spot by selling nearly half a billion handsets and Samsung held on to second place by selling 200 million mobile phones. Sony Ericsson languished in fifth place with 96.6 million handsets sold. LG seems intent on increasing its market share as a company executive has revealed that the handset maker plans top release more than 100 new cell phone models this year. [Via: Phonescoop ] |
