LG TARGETS NUMBER 2 SPOT BY 2012

With Motorola on its way out and Sony Ericsson having problems, LG became the third largest cellphone maker last year. In an interview to Yonhap news agency, Ahn Seung-kwon, president for LG's mobile business, mentioned that the company plans to become number 2 by 2012. This would mean a battle against Samsung. Will LG win the battle? We have to find out in the future. It's 3 years from now and a lot of things could happen within that time period.

Seung-kwon also mentioned a few interesting things in this interview. For instance, he revealed that LG will launch a new “Black label” series phone Q. This device will be positioned to compete with the iPhone. LG is also working on a new addition to its successful luxury “Prada” phone line. Seung-kwon also mentioned a plan to move even deeper into a luxury cellphone market, by creating it’s own extreme premium brand like Nokia’s Vertu.”
