The Modu mobile phone, measuring just 2.8 by 1.4 by 0.3 inches and tipping the scales at 1.5 ounces, has been declared the lightest handset in the world by the Guinness World of Records. The tiny Pantech C300 handset, the Modu's closest rival in the lightest cell phone competition, weighs a full ounce heavier.
The world's lightest mobile phone is a modular device that can change in appearance and functionality once it is placed into "jackets." Due to its size, the Modu has a minuscule display and only two navigation controls. However, the Modu's miniature size does not prevent it from offering a charger jack and a mini USB port. This mobile phone is not designed to be used by itself, even though it functions as a normal handset. It is best utilized when inserted into the jackets, which act as the shells of a bigger device.
