PALM PRE APPS CATALOG REACHES 1 MILLION DOWNLOADS

The Palm App Catalog has reached the one million download mark just eighteen days after the Pre was released in Sprint retail outlets across the US. According to the folks at Medialets, 1,015,038 Palm Pre apps have been downloaded as of June 24. This number is impressive considering that only 30 applications are currently available in the webOS App Catalog.

Estimates place the number of Pal Pre units sold at 150,000 so each webOS handset has downloaded an average of about seven applications. The relatively young Palm App Catalog is expected to flourish once the SDK is available to a large number of developers. A big number of Sprint customers are still waiting for new shipments of the Palm Pre so the downloads are expected to rise in the following weeks.
