PALM PRE BATTERY DETAILS BEGIN TO EMERGE

With many months to go until the Palm Pre hits Sprint stores details are beginning to emerge regarding the battery that will power the device.

While we still don't know what sort of stated battery life the Pre will offer, we now know that the Pre will be powered by a 1200mAh battery. This was confirmed by those who spoke to Palm representatives at CES. Previous reports stating that the Pre would use the same battery that powers the Centro at 1150mAh were unfounded.

For comparison, the T-Mobile G1 uses a 1150mAh battery, and its battery life is infamously less than stellar.

However we have no idea what sort of power management the Pre will use and how much talk and stand-by time it will be able to squeeze out of its battery. The Pre will also pack a more advanced processor than almost anything out there, with advanced power reduction features.

But hey, since it's replaceable, you can always just pop in a new one right?
