PLANNED STRIKE AGAINST AT&T GAINS UNION AUTHORIZATION

Earlier this week, we informed you that AT&T Mobility workers are preparing for a possible strike. Well, it appears that the protests against AT&T Mobility is gaining momentum as the Communications Workers of America overwhelmingly voted to authorize the strike. More than 20,000 Communications Workers of America members are employed by AT&T Mobility. The union is unhappy that AT&T Mobility is unwilling to grant its requests for improved worker's compensation and working conditions. The CWA is currently renegotiating its contract with AT&T e which expires on February 7. The date of the strike will be set after it gains the approval of the CWA executive board. A crippling strike is the last thing that AT&T needs in the midst of the current economic crisis.
