SAMSUNG IS SUCCESSFUL WITH THE INSTINCT S30

Samsung has recently released a new and improved Instinct called the Instinct S30, which, if you can believe it, is even better than the original (and you thought it was impossible to improve upon perfection!). The S30, in comparison to its predecessor, is, well, pretty hot! It’s lost weight (0.6 ounces, to be exact), gained curves, and has pampered itself to look sleeker and more elegant than the original. While it certainly looks great, does the Samsung S30 meet the standards of even the toughest, most demanding cell phone user? In most aspects, it definitely meets up to what we would expect from a Samsung, while in other areas it may benefit from a few tweaks and adjustments.
In terms of appearance, the S30 is definitely giving the iPhone a run for its money: the 3.2-inch 240×432 262K color display is clear and easy to read, regardless of how light or dark it is outside. When it comes to colour, the S30 is available in either a calm copper for those looking for something slightly different, or it’s also available in a bold cobalt black, for those looking for something more standard and ordinary. The S30’s 2 megapixel camera and easy-to-use camcorder is certainly nothing to balk at: it allows you to easily store dozens of photographs with only the touch of a few buttons. Other great features include a 3.5 millimeter headphone jack, RSS feeds, voice command, and a whole whack of bookmarks (among many other things). Enormous improvements in signal strength and responsiveness to the touch screen display have also been re-worked for the Instinct S30, making it an overall more user-friendly and comprehensible device.
While Samsung deserves kudos for coming out with yet another great phone, unfortunately the S30 leaves a lot to be desired. The on/off switch, for example, does not seem quite up to par; perhaps a slide to unlock feature (that can be used to end a call) should be available to turn the phone on and off. While it may not seem like a big deal, holding down the power button for 3 or 4 seconds seems, well, outdated. In addition, the phone’s 1GB card is not that impressive: we all know that the iPhone comes with at least 8GB, and if Samsung wants to stay neck-in-neck with the iPhone, it better add some more much-needed storage space. Also, where are the new features? The new Samsung Instinct seems to have almost all of the same elements as the earlier Instinct model.
Despite some minor re-working that might need to take place, the Instinct S30 truly is a wonderful phone. A definite upgrade from the original, the Instinct S30 literally puts the world at your fingertips with instant messaging, a speedy web browser, a GPS for the directionally inclined, and a calendar to help you stay on top of things. So, while Samsung may have marginally missed the mark on this phone (they are capable of way better), the Instinct S30 is still an impressive phone that will provide users with a unique and valuable cell phone experience.
