Remember the guy who incurred a $102.85 international data roaming bill when he brought his T-Mobile G1 to the UK? Well, you can now avoid being charged with a huge international data roaming bill by contacting Customer Care before you leave the US. T-Mobile decided to respond to complaints about the G1's data usage when roaming overseas by releasing a statement that reads, in part: "If a T-Mobile customer would like to use their T-Mobile G1 while outside the country, they should contact Customer Care before they leave to ask that the WorldClass feature be added to their service at no additional charge". T-Mobile's statement also instructs that users can also disable data roaming on the T-Mobile G1 manually using these steps: Home Screen > Menu > Settings > Wireless Controls > Mobile Networks > Data Roaming. T-Mobile also warned users of the G1 Android Smartphone that certain third party applications being offered in the Android Market can negating the "off" setting and turn data roaming back on. It is advisable that you disable third party applications that require access to the Internet before travel overseas. |
