UGLY IPHONE SMS VULNERABILITY REVEALED; APPLE WORKING ON A FIX

OS X security expert Charlie Miller has revealed an extremely dangerous security hole in the iPhone's SMS application. More info after the jump.

Essentially, a hacker could use the exploit to gain control of several features of the iPhone, such as the GPS receiver to track its position, the microphone to listen to your conversations, or just the cell phone antenna to make it a part of a zombified robot network. Miller says that even though there isn't support for common vulnerable frameworks such as Flash or Java, the way that the iPhone processes SMS messages is a great way to gain access to the core features of the device.

Miller will present more information about this security hole at the Black Hat USA conference in Las Vegas at the end of July.
