VERIZON WIRELESS TO CARRY THE PALM PRE EARLY NEXT YEAR

We found out about Verizon Wireless' plan to offer the Palm Pre in 2010 about a month ago. However, Verizon Wireless executives have reaffirmed that they plan to carry the "Pre early next year" during a recent investor conference call. This update may be great news to loyal Verizon Wireless subscribers who want to get their hands on a Palm Pre but the carrier's Q2 earnings report appears to be laden with bad news. Big Red took a large 21% drop in profits even though the company's wireless division netted 1.1 million new subscribers. The carrier is also facing surging pension costs and weakening demand for some of its wireless services. Verizon Wireless hopes to stop this slide by reducing its contractor and employee workforce by 8,000 during the second half of 2009. [Via: PreCentral and PhoneScoop] |
