The Palm Pre appears to have triggered an exclusivity war between Sprint and Verizon Wireless. Sprint CEO, Dan Hesse, recently declared that the company's exclusivity with the Pre was longer than six months. This statement was made in response to Verizon's CEO Lowell McAdam caliming his company would carry the Palm Pre within 6 months. However, a WSJ journal added new fire to the controversy by reporting that a person familiar with the situation has disclosed that Verizon Wireless will be selling the Palm Pre in January. Recent reports indicate that more than 50,000 Palm Pre units were sold in the first two days of availability. Sprint has also claimed that the webOS device has broken the company's single-day and first-weekend sales records. [Via: Pre Thinking] |
