VERIZON'S QCHAT PTT PLANS
Submitted by Matt on Tue, 04/22/2008 - 22:35.Bookmark/Search this post with: Here's some instant access news on Verizon's new Push to Talk service . According to Engadget Mobile, Verizon may be preparing to launch Qchat PTT, the next generation in instant access technology based on a leaked document. This new technology uses a more robust feature set to provide faster connection times utilizing EV-DO Rev. A. A similar service has been unveiled by Sprint, but Verizon's version has yet to be officially announced. The carrier may be planning to launch its very own Qchat service by the end of May as implied by the leaked documents. Two new handsets, the Motorola V750 and the Casio G'zOne c711 may accompany the QChat PTT launch. These devices are ideal for the service because they offer EV-DO Rev. A radios, as well as GPS, Bluetooth, and a bit of onboard memory. Details on prices for the handsets and the accompanying service are expected to be released in the near future. As an editorial side note, it is fair to say that the folks at 611Connect are less than thrilled with the likelihood that more annoying PTT phones will soon be on the market. |
