The App Catalog, which houses webOS apps, has reached 1000+ apps this month.  From its initial launch in June 2009 the App Catalog has slowly but surely increased its offerings.  Palm definitely has a long way to go to reach the somewhat 100,000 iPhone apps, 20,000 Android apps, but it should be well on its way now that the Palm Developer Program is open to the public.  Announced today at CES Palm is offering a $1 million developer Hot Apps bonus program for growing the webOS developer community.  The program will run from Feb 1st to may 31st 2010 and will reward developers of the top free apps distributed $100,000, $10,000 to 40 developers for top free and paid, and $1,000 to 400 developers for the next top apps paid and free.  Check out the rules here.  This incentive should get the Palm App Catalog up to a competing position with the top contenders fast, especially with webOS being HTML based developers should have no problem building numerous apps.
