Google claims that the Nexus 1 from HTC cant event be contained in the word “smartphone” but that it needs to be called a “superphone.” The Google device features a cutting edge AMOLED capacitive touch screen, a 1GHz CPU, multi-touch input method, accelerometer method, digital compass, and Android OS v2.1. Other key features include a 5MP camera with LED flash autofocus, plus an HTML browser and Wi-Fi. In terms of physical aspects, the Nexus 1 measures120mm x 60mm x 11.5mm (4.7in x 2.4in x .5in) in size, and weighs in at 136.2g (4.8oz). There is a trackball that is located below the 3.7-inch, 800 x 480 pixel AMOLED touchscreen display, and a 3.5mm headphone jack is located on the top of the phone. A micro-USB power/data connector can be found on the bottom of the phone. As mentioned above, the phone also has a 5 megapixel camera with LED flash. The Nexus One ships with a 4GB microSD memory card pre-installed, and the device supports larger cards as well for up to 16GB or, eventually, 32GB of storage.
Multiple Google and Microsoft exchange accounts can be added to the device, and the Nexus 1 has great support for IMAP, POP, and Exchange email systems in addition to Google's home grown Gmail. For music listening, the Nexus 1 seems to perform really well;both 3.5mm headphones and Bluetooth stereo headphones are supported, and the music app organizes tracks by album, artist, and playlist. Of course the phone also has your standard applications that come pre-installed, such as a calculator, Google Maps with Navigation, and Google Voice,
If the above specs sound appealing to you (and I bet they do!), you can buy the phone for $529 for the unlocked version, or pay $179.00 for a version with T-Mobile service.
