Let's take a look at some of the reviews that the HTC Droid Incredible has been receiving from some major cell phone sources thus far.
According to the Engadget folks, the Droid Incredible is the "best android device that you ca purchase in America right now." They are firm believers that it is better than the Droid, the Nexus One, the Eris, myTouch, or Cliq. It is not just an amazing android phone but it is also an excellent smartphone. Despite this statement, Engadget writer Joshua Topolsky still thinks there are still some issues, stating that if a hardware keyboard is a must, then the Incredible wont be the right phone for you. Despite this, if you're looking for an ultra-fast, extremely capable smartphone that can truly go the distance, Engadget seems to think the Incredible is the right phone for you.
Over at Gizmodo, they seem to think that if you're on Verizon, the Incredible is pretty much the best phone you can get. It's fast, the camera controls and interface are great, but the shots and video are, according to them, only decent. In terms of the negatives, Gizmodo seems to think that the phone feels a little cheap and "plasticky," and the places where the Android and HTC custom Sense interface overlap can feel a bit confusing. Keeping up with the guys over at Engadget, Gizmodo is a firm believer that the Incredible is the best Android phone you can buy on Verizon and in the U.S.
It's no surprise that BGR thinks the Incredible is, well, incredible! They believe this device has "pushed the boundaries of Android in practically every direction. There is awesome corporate integration, tons of social networking elements built right in, a friendly UI with fun widgets, and a great web browser." As far as the negatives go, BGR states that the layout of certain elements and buttons isn't the greatest, while the optional directional pad leaves a bit to be desired. And, much like the folks over at Gizmodo, BGR thinks that the phone feels a bit too";plasticky" as well.
So what does Infosync have to say about Verizon's newest addition? Going along with the others, they seem to think the Incredible is definitely a phone worth having. They stand their ground, saying that the Incredible produces the brightest colors out there, even more so than the iPhone. They seemed to love the "pinch and zoom" feature, and, although it's not the latest technology, the Sense formatted the text and columns accordingly at any zoom ratio. According to Infosync, call quality and reception were top-notch, and google Voice Search worked extremely well. In terms of downsides, the phone's 8 megapixel camera was "hit or miss" when it came to images. Also, the camera seemed to drain about 45% of the phone's battery, which is never a good thing.
Our last review, by Phonescoop, seems to (not so surprisingly) follow the rest of the pack. They think it's "one of the sharpest looking handsets to hit Verizon's shelves in recent memory." They also think that despite its few faults, the Incredible outmatches every other handset that Verizon Wireless currently offers. it has a faster processor, better camera, Sense UI, and extra customization features make it much better to use every day. When it comes to the music experience, the HTC Incredible review indicates that the phone still suffers from a lack of baked-in video support, but that the experience is still slightly better than that of other Android phones. Overall, phonescoop believes that as long as you don't mind the glass keyboard, the Incredible is truly a great device that anyone should be proud to own.
After all of these positive reviews, it's hard to wonder why anyone WOULDN'T want this phone! The HTC Droid Incredible will be available for Verizon on April 29, selling for $300 with a two-year contract. A $100 mail-in rebate will be given when signing up for a qualifying plan. Verizon Wireless will start taking pre-orders on April 19....TODAY!
