If you want a change from Internet Explorer or other browsers like Opera mini, Fennec might be for you. From the makers of Mozilla Firefox comes Fennec, the mobile version of Firefox. This web browser includes touch screen and add on support, along with the Smart URL bar we all know and love that tries to guess what site you're navigating to. Want it? Things You'll Need:

  • Windows Mobile
  • Nokia N810 or HTC Touch Pro (might work on other devices)

On your device navigate to the following URL: http://download.mozilla.org/?product=fennec-1.0a1&os=wince&lang=en-US

A dialog box will open instructing you to download the cab. Click yes to begin downloading the cab.

If your device is software locked you will see a different dialog box. Select yes and on subsequent dialog boxes.

Choose a location to save your installation. Installing on your device is probably more appropriate.

A confirmation will appear when the installation has installed successfully. Select OK to close the box.

Next navigate to programs, and then find the Fennec icon to launch the browser

 

Tips & Warnings
  • If you have a previous version of Fennec uninstall it before installing the new version.
  • to use the full screen for browsing, click the button on the left hand side on top of the device(Nokia N810)
  • swipe left to expose back/forward/bookmark buttons and the URL bar; swipe right to dismiss them(Nokia N810)
  • Swipe right to expose tabs; swipe left to dismiss them.(Nokia N810)
  • You can install a version of Fennec for your desktop PC.
  • Allow panning/scrolling in iframes - Websites that display large amounts of content in IFrames, including Google Mail and Reader, will be very hard, if not impossible, to use.
  • Some addons won't work on the desktop versions
