How To Prevent Your Mytouch 3g From Using T-mobile's Data Network

If for some reason you don't want to use T-Mobile's data network to access the internet or other features on your myTouch 3G, this is how you disable it's use. |

Things You'll Need:
- T-Mobile myTouch 3G

open the app drawer2
tap on settings3
tap 'wireless controls'4
tap 'mobile networks'5
tap 'access point names' and you should see the T-Mobile access network already setup on your device6
press menu then tap 'New APN'7
Give your APN any name8
Change APN to a loopback IP address such as 127.0.0.19
Change server to the same IP address as APN10
press menu and tap save11
To use your new Access Point tap 'Access Point Names' and tap the APN that you just created
Tips & Warnings
- You will still receive sms and will be able to make phone calls.
- WiFi can still work if you need to connect to the internet for some reason.

I don't really understand what APN means. What do we put for the IP Address?
I don't really understand what APN means. What do we put for the IP Address?
Hey thanks for this tip. Here is my situation, I have the mytouch and I unlocked it and now using on the AT&T network. After saving the APN settings(shown above), I turned off my wi-fi and I still was able to connect to the network(I still see the signal strength bars). I power cycled too. I don't know if i got it right//
Here's what I got:
Name: My APN
APN: 127.0.0.1
Proxy: not set
Port: not set
Username: not set
Password: not set
Server: 127.0.0.1
MMSC: not set
MMS proxy: not set
MMS port: not set
MCC: 310
MNC: 410
APN type: not set
that doesnt work on the mytouch , i did what you said than tried to get on the internet got a message that data service is off , than i tried to send a picture message to myself and all of a sudden the 3g signal popped up it got sent than i retried to get on the internet and i was able to , you have to keep resetting it after every mms message sent or recieved. Apndroid is the best but than it also disable mms
