BlackBerry Smartphones like the Pearl and the Curve are a technological marvel. These devices allow you to do tasks that cannot be performed by the average cell phone. But do you know that you can make a phone call on the BlackBerry Pearl or BlackBerry Curve with physically dialing a phone number? Let me show you how to dial hands free on your Blackberry Pearl/Curve. |
| Instructions | Difficulty: Moderately Easy |
Things You'll Need:
- Blackberry Pearl
- Blackberry Curve
1
Press the voice command button to begin the hands free dialing process. This is the button with 3 raised dots usually found on the left side of the pearl or Curve2
Wait for a bit as the device scans your addressbook. This make take several seconds especially if you have recently synched your addressbook. 3
Now say the word "CALL" followed by the FULL NAME of the person you wish to contact as listed in your addressbook. In my experience using the fullname is more reliable than using shortcut entries.4
If the person you wish to contact has more than one number in your addressbook entry (different numbers for work and home) then you need to confirm the person or place to dial the correct number. Confirm the name by saying" Yes" 5
Listen carefully as your Pearl or Curve mentions the name of the person before it dials the number. Cancel and repeat the process if it mentions the wrong name.6
You phone will now dial the number based on your command
Tips & Warnings
- You will need to manually hang up the phone to end a call made through hands free dialing.
- You can can create shortcut entries in your addressbook for common numbers but using the full name is more preferable
- Press the red hangup button to cancel the process
