Palm and Sprint have been against hacking webOS to allow data tethering on the Pre. However, some brilliant developers (the folks at isyougeekedup ) have come up with a way to enable Tethering on the Palm Pre. Here's how to enable tethering on the Palm Pre. |

Things You'll Need:
- Rooted Palm Pre

You need to
install/enable SSH on a
rooted Palm Pre2
Now use a Bluetooth to connect to your Pal Pre’s NAP (network access point)3
An error message indicating that your device is discoverable will appear. Ignore this error message and proceed. 4
Now navigate to Connection -> SSH -> Tunnels

Configure the following settings using PuTTY:
* Source port: 8080
* Destination: Dynamic and Auto radio buttons
* Click Add and you’ll see the port in the “Forwarded ports” box

Now you need to initiate the SSH connection bu going through Bluetooth and using port 222. 7
You can now proceed to configure your browser’s SOCKS proxy at the login screen with:
* Address: localhost
* Port: 8080

Press OK to enable the tethering capabilities of your Palm Pre
