The sidekick is back. This time it comes with a bunch of cool features including the ability to share its mobile data connection with a single computer via a USB cable. Here's how to enable USB tethering on the T-Mobile Sidekick 4G

Instructions Difficulty: Moderately Easy

Things You'll Need:

  • USB cable

To tether your phone, fisrt connect the USB cable to the Sidekick 4G, and then to a computer. IMPORTANT: Do not select a USB mode.

Press the Home key and then tap the Menu.

Tap Settings and select Wireless and network.

Tap Tethering and portable hotspot.

Tap USB Tethering to enable tethering. At this point your phone starts sharing its mobile network data connection with the computer via the USB connection. When your device is sharing its data connection, an icon appears on the Status bar on the top of your phone’s screen.

When finished, disable tethering and then safely disconnect the phone from the computer.

Tips & Warnings
  • Tethering works with Windows® 7, Windows XP and Windows Vista. If additional software or USB drivers are required, go to www.samsung.com/us/downloads to download the software or drivers to the computer you wish to tether to.
  • When your device is serving as a Wi-Fi hotspot for other devices, you cannot access the Internet using the phone itself.
  • When you connect your phone to your computer with the USB cable, you can either tether or access files on the memory card, but you cannot do both. If you want to use your computer to access the memory card, then you must turn off tethering.
