Turn WiFi on. Now turning WiFi on usually devours more battery but the opposite seem to be true for the Pre. According to Palm, the webOS device is very efficient at WiFi and users might get better battery life with WiFi on. Some tests show that battery l9ife on the Pre improves with WiFi on especially on areas with poor signal. 2
Disable Bluetooth when not in use. Tests shows that Bluetooth does not particularly consume a lot of power. However, with the Pre's not so great battery life, every bit counts. 3
Close 3rd party apps. Running apps consume power so turn off those that are not in use. Some apps may fail to close cleanly and continue to drain the battery. 4
Adjust screen settings. The Palm Pre has a wonderful brilliant display. However, you don't need to use maximum brightness to see the information on the screen clearly. Adjusting your screens settings to lower levels will preserve battery life. 5
Good coverage equals better battery performance. I just the palm pre yesterday, today was my first day trying it out. With nothing out of the ordinary a couple of calls of maybe 8-15 minutes long some email checking and a text or 2. By 1:00 my phone was below 20% battery life. By 2:00 i was getting warnings. WTF. How the hell can you advertise a phone that runs multible apps, does so much but can't get through a half day of battery life????? I have 29 days left to return the phone......... We'll see what happens
