You can only perform a software update when new software is available so you need to check is a new update for your Sony Ericsson W580i is available. 2
From standby, go to Menu > Settings > General> Update service and press "Select".3
Then choose Search for update and press "Select". Wait for a bit as the phone searches for software updates.4
Download the update if new software for your handset is available5
If the phone does not have enough free memory or battery capacity to perform a software update, you will be notified. Proceed if your phone has enough power to complete the update.
