User Reviews1 of 1 people found the following review helpful: Worth the Upgrade! Best T-Mobile Phone So Far, Thursday, November 20, 2008 - 03:20I owned the Pearl 8120 and the Blackberry Pearl Flip 8220 is worth the upgrade. The very first BlackBerry flip phone! It has the same features of Pearl 8120 and much more improved with latest BlackBerry OS, and adds an external display which I absolutely adore. The new OS is great and polished and so is the new browser. I love how they managed to add complete and compact features to a flip phone it has the same applications, and more games and larger screen. I just say that the Blackberry Pearl Flip 8220 by far best phone from T-Mobile! It has 2 megapixel camera with video capture, 3.5mm headphone jack, Wi-Fi, stereo Bluetooth, memory card slot, voice dialing, SureType text keypad, and push email. The email support works great. Unfortunately, it has no 3G; it has EDGE which connections are can be slow at times.
PROs:
- Screen is beautiful and larger than previous BlackBerry models.
- Takes great 2.1 megapixel photos, very decent for a camera phone
- Keys are larger for typing. Very comfortable and makes texting a breeze.
- New interface and Icons are really beautiful.
- Sound is clear and loud enough.
- WiFi is great for browsing and watching YouTube and making calls when in areas that Mobile network is weak.
- Video camera is cool and gets job done however can be choppy.
- You can customize where all your icons and apps go.
- Battery seems good so far.
- External screen is great because you don't have to open phone to know who is calling, it shows incoming number and ID photo. If you receive a text or emails, it will display quick summary externally. - - Stereo Bluetooth capability
- Internet browser is perfect. I loaded Facebook which integrates just right and Google maps (even w/street view)
- Music player is pleasing. Organizes properly Artist, Album, Song details
- Has a micro SD expandable memory slot
- Comes with two ear headphone wired (3.5 jack), data cable and wall charger. Connection to phone is now a micro USB port which is smaller so you cannot use old Blackberrys.
CONs:
- No 3G support or GPS.
- SureType keyboard needs to be improved
Overall, the Blackberry Pearl Flip 8220 is a complete package. It's worth the upgrade from older Blackberry phones. I truly recommend it.

Complete and Solid Phone, Monday, November 3, 2008 - 09:28Blackberry Pearl Flip 8220 is fabulous. I had a Blackberry Curve before and got it switch over this phone. I love the design of this phone since it is has a professional look and it?s a flip phone. I adore the metallic and shiny glass screen design of the front exterior. It is the same thing as a Pearl except more secure. Screen is stunning and larger than the previous BlackBerry models. External screen is so cool because you don’t have to open the phone to know who is calling, it displays incoming number with ID photo. And, if you received emails or text, it will display quick summary. Keypads are large for typing. The interface and icons are beautifully designed. You can customize where all your icons and apps placed. Sound is great and so clear. WiFi is quick for browsing and watching videos online. Takes detailed 2.1 megapixel pictures. The video camera is great. So far, the battery seems good. I love the Stereo Bluetooth. I loaded MySpace which loads perfectly. I was surprised with the music quality. It is superb. This phone comes with 2 ear headphone wired (3.5 jack), data cable and wall charger. Connection to phone is now a micro USB port which is smaller so you cannot use old blackberry connections.
Overall, this is a great phone that provides entertainment and a solid upgrade from old Pearl. If you are looking for small, Flip phone and Blackberry that has everything you ever dreamed on a phone, then this one is for you. Highly recommended!
