User Reviews2 of 2 people found the following review helpful: Trendy, sexy, and sleek phone full of high-end features!, Wednesday, September 17, 2008 - 06:17I was overwhelmed with HTC Touch Diamond, the first time I used it. It has an amazing VGA touch screen, all the connectivity I most wanted, fine and quick call functionality especially for a touch phone. Although, the previous versions have several issues, requires few precondition understanding in order to find decent battery life.
I was finding for a new mobile phone to replace with my old Blackberry Pearl. I preferred a phone that has all the great functionality of a Blackberry and add in some connectivity options that the Pearl don?t have. Functional software, outstanding connectivity, great sound quality and stylish design tops my list and mainly the Diamond was, for me, the perfect combination between the main popular phones such as the iPhone and Blackberry models, the two phones I was trying to choose between before running into HTC Touch Diamond.
HTC has prepared new ROMs available which very much developed and improved the speed quality. In my experience, it is very stable now, uses less battery and the whole interface has become very quick to respond. HTC is still working on further useful updates, so it can only become even better and enhance. I was able to manually tweak the phone to be absolutely perfect for me, but, since this is not factory default, it is the only thing that prevents me from giving it a 10.
Call quality and functionality was fine. Luckily, huge contact lists are simple to manage and very accessible, making this a supreme plus. Integration with tasks, calendar events, address books and other management software prove that I made a good decision in choosing this phone to replace the Blackberry’s functionality.
TouchFLO3D is very neat feature. It offers the whole phone a trendy visual appeal which is hardly bested by any phone, and while being subjective to taste, once you get used to it switching between applications and functionality is extremely fast. The horizontal selection menu allows me to choose apps in a second, which is excellent, especially when you have a software platform that lets you just about any 3rd part application that you can dream of.
The Opera 9.5 simply remarkable! It looks great, it runs very fast. The 3G connects fast.
Multimedia and connectivity is perfect, the Wi-fi, GPS & AGPS (working flawlessly with Google Maps, TomTom, Route66, etc), 3.5G, Bluetooth 2.0 with many features make it into a phone that just connects with anything.
The s battery life is not impressive though. To sum up, the HTC Touch Diamond is a extraordinarily practical, very stylish looking phone that really allows you to do whatever you want to do with it. This is the best phone I ever had.

Much better and improved after software update!, Monday, October 27, 2008 - 10:21I love this phone. The HTC Diamond is an outstandingly complete Smartphone, with all the
features I could think of. After software update (ROM update of 31/7/2008, the phone qulity and performance has significantly improved and enhanced. It has an overwhelming VGA touchscreen, all the connectivity I desired, high-quality and fast call functionality particularly for a touch phone.
I am completely satisfied with a Windows OS. The phone operates through 2-3.5G connections, has wi-fi, bluetooth, GPS, internet connection to a fast GPS location system, Google Maps, Opera browser. I would have found it practical to have a short-cut button to link to a wi-fi connection, and it would be nice to have Skype already downloaded on the system. In short, the very best phone I had so far, while waiting for the HTC Dream, for sure. This is an excellent phone greatly superior to the much hyped iPhone.

Style and Substance In Fusion, Tuesday, November 25, 2008 - 00:48According to HTC executive, Cheng Hui-ming, HTC Touch Diamond is the most important product for HTC this year. HTC Touch Diamond proves that you can have style and substance at the same time. Upon its first release, the phone was immediately compared to iPhone.
One of the best selling features of HTC Touch Diamond is the phone?s physical design. Aside from having a sleek mirrored face and prism effect on the back, this one-handed phone is one of the smallest PDAs on the market. It measures 102 x 51 x 11.5 mm and weighs 110 grams, it is even smaller than iPhone with 115 x 61 x 11.6 mm and 135g dimensions.
The smartphone comes with Touch Flo 3D interface and equipped with a 2.8-inch with 680x480 pixel resolution touch screen. Touch Diamond was also set with an orientation sensor that automatically switches the orientation of the screen from portrait to landscape mode, depending on the way it is being held just like the iPhone.
Located at the back of the Touch Diamond, is a 3.2 megapixel camera that produces satisfactory photos in good lighting condition. It has also 4x zoom feature and video recording capabilities. The HTC Touch Diamond spices up the users? multimedia experience with some extras that includes an FM radio, an audio booster, a streaming media app for YouTube videos, and a utility called MP3 Trimmer that allows you to cut and trim MP3 files that can be used as ringtones.
Touch Diamond runs with the latest Windows Mobile 6.1 Professional Edition, hence making it as one of the most user-friendly Windows Mobile smartphone. It is also packed with some of the most important tools such as PDF reader, task manager, voice recorder, Zip manager, and Microsoft Office Mobile Suite that is used for editing and creating Word and Excel documents and viewing PowerPoint presentations.
Users can also use the device?s stylus in writing down notes directly to the phone. The phone automatically displays a notepad when you pull out your stylus. Another interesting feature of Touch Diamond is you can enable the mute function by simply turning the device with its display on the table.
The device includes a wide range of connectivity options such as Wi-Fi, HSDPA, GPS and Bluetooth. With HSDPA 7.2 Mbps and HSUPA wireless connectivity, HTC Touch Diamond delivers an entirely new mobile Internet experience. The Wi-Fi was simple to set up and the device holds its Wi-Fi signal well. With the addition of Opera 9.5, internet browsing is much faster than the integrated Internet Explorer browser.
Touch Diamond may seem perfect but it?s not. Here are some of its flaws.
The camera of the phone lacks flash capabilities and the colors of the pictures weren't very bright or rich. Users may experience shutter lag and would have to steady their hands to get a clear shot.
The screen cannot be used outdoors in strong sunlight and may sometimes lag because the user interface is probably faster than the processor. There is also a problem in scrolling through long lists of contacts, programs, weather locations because you can only scroll in one direction A to Z.
Although it offers 4 GB of on-board storage, it does not offer expansion capabilities. One can also experience some troubles in acquiring GPS signal. When listening to MP3s, the Equalizer can only be accessed when the headphones are inserted. Lastly, the battery life is not impressive.
Despite of these flaws, HTC Touch Diamond is an innovative gadget that is not too big and not too small. I agree with the Chinese proverb that goes like this: ?Better a diamond with a flaw than a pebble without one.?
