With the outburst of touch phones in the Philippine market, I got tempted to go and grab an LG model (be it Renoir or Viewty). Having this urge to budget everything, I opted for an LG Cookie instead (in spite of the thought that it doesn?t have a Wifi feature).
Priced lower than most touchscreen phones, it presents itself in a couple of colors from which, the buyer could choose (red, black, silver, pink). .
The unit itself is lighter than expected, the 3-inch screen display?s brightness can practically be adjusted. It has two primary displays which the user could switch from. First display contains the ?basics? time, date, short memo, shortcut to gallery. One can choose as to which icon you would opt to drag on the main display. The second display focuses more on the speed dial list.
LG Cookie has a sensor motion so a quick shake could auto-arrange the icons on display.
It has four ?internal? menus at the bottom of the screen which provides fast access (dialing, contacts, messaging and a link leading to other sub-menus).
The unit responds fast to a quick fingertip browsing than any other touchscreen phones. It doesn?t slow down or freeze suppose there are other opened software applications.
LG Cookie?s camera feature is not as impressive as you would have to adjust the settings every now and then depending on the environment. Have to mention that by default, a single shot would create this almost ?blurry? or not-so-bright picture.
Another downside which I have to admit is that I couldn?t create (and save) a playlist and store selected mp3s from my main gallery. It has that ?create playlist? function but it doesn?t really save it.
Being a little obsessive-compulsive, I find it frustrating that LG Cookie couldn?t create a folder in the gallery (so I could organize my personal pictures). That?s a thumbs down for me.
Built-in tones and mp3 music would have to be another story as I like how they sound from a ?Cookie unit (very clear and pleasant to the ear).
There are internal and amusing games as well, which makes the most out of the motion sensor feature.
Generally, LG Cookie is a simple touchscreen phone containing almost all of the basics. There are features which LG should have made better but in comparison with other touchscreen units without any wifi or advanced functions, LG Cookie is not far behind.
