this is a rugged phone it is a hybrid of the sprint and Nextel technologies. So this one has a sim card but it is low on the features side. It does have the push to talk feature. The Buzz passes all military specs so if you need a sturdy phone for your kids this may be the one you need. The walkie talkie feature allows you to say niner over and out as many times as you care to reenact Tommy boy. I don't think that will score big points with the kids but when I was that age the "mobile" phone came with a backpack and another guy carrying the battery while you were looking for 'charlie.' That's not true I haven't even been to Laos, Cambodia or Vietnam.
