I am not exactly a huge fan of sliding phones as I would rather opt for clam shell types. With Nokia E65 though, I instantly fell in love with its exterior appeal: clean silver material in front and brown leather coat for the back (an advantage because it’s not as scratch prone as the regular mobile phone). If I have to make a quick description of this unit physically,
then it has to be: modern meets classic.
It is all about serious business for it provides utmost convenience in accessing several applications from the main menu (in active standby mode).
Other Nokia models have the same characteristic but I noticed that E65 has an enhancement in terms of this area as it shows more notifications than ever (new mail messages, logged calls, WLAN status and other scheduled appointments).
Prior to using E65, I don’t crave that much for other complicated phone features. A little SMS and voice call would do. This unit encourages its users to explore more of its email and wi fi connectivity features. The fact that I never had a hard time trying to access the remote server encouraged me to make the most out of going online in a jiffy.
Wi fi connectivity actually works better with a touch screen type of mobile handset but having it in a smaller, slimmer unit such as E65 is fair enough.
No new features with of its phone camera as it works just as good as any 2 megapixel phone cam.
On the other hand, I have to mention that I am extremely impressed with E65’s battery life as I don’t have to worry about re-charging. I could go for more than 24 hours with maximized use (frequent phone calls, seeming non-stop SMS-ing, and music listening). Its light sensor helps in prolonging battery life as it automatically shuts off its keypad’s lights if the environment is bright enough. Screen brightness is adjustable as well.
Overall, this unit is highly recommendable and very, very practical for the user on the go.
