01234 Amazing phone!, Monday, October 27, 2008 - 08:46

The Samsung Instinct does almost all of its functionality and features wonderfully well. The feature that has been most remarkable to me is the GPS / Navigation. It could actually replace a portable GPS, not as functional, but it does the main job, but has an advantage in that it has a lot of data behind it. Telenav is integrated brilliantly into a phone. One feature related to GPS is the Live Search, you can say the name of a business and the phone will find that business and then allow you to call it, map it or get turn by turn directions to it. Another example: Hold in a button, tell it coffee, and up comes coffee places nearest you in a directory format. Click one and get all the info you can use, and then click map, directions, and get full GPS from where you are to it. You can find the cheapest gas stations nearest to your location. What blows me away is that I use this feature quite a bit and it has worked each time!
The sleekest part of this thing is the GPS. It could actually replace a portable GPS, not as functional, but it does the main job, but has an advantage in that it has a lot of data behind it.

The web interface is good. The screen is nice, large, and has a great resolution. Watching TV on it is good.

PROS:
-Excellent call quality
-Easy Navigation
-Comes packed with an extra battery (I think they just did that to take a shot at the iPhone which has a built-in battery)
-Touch screen is very responsive
-Visual Voicemail is splendid

Cons:
-Web browser needs enhancement
-Music Player only has 8 levels of volume. For me level 7 is not loud enough and level 8 is a tad too loud.
-Camera has no options
-Can’t open PDF files

The Samsung Instinct is a great device. I wouldn’t recommend the Instinct thought to are hardcore PDA users.
Bottom line, if you want a multi-media phone, this is a good one to get.

01234 I’m waiting for Apple 3G, Thursday, July 10, 2008 - 12:15

Not bad for a Samsung. I applaud their effort. I’m still going to wait for Apple iPhone 3G. If you are going to get this type of phone, why not get the best!

01234 Better than Expected., Friday, June 27, 2008 - 15:22

I was checking out the reviews and it seems Samsung put together a pretty decent phone. Only gripes I’ve read about is the web browsing. Otherwise, it is a worthy competitor to the iPhone. Good price from Sprint too. Not bad at all...

01234 Great phone from Sprint!, Monday, November 17, 2008 - 08:50

I got my Samsung Instinct M800 last week, so far so good. Love the Live search and GPS. I was surprised at how easy it was to navigate. I was very impressed with the overall look and feel of the phone, for those that aren't used to a touch screen interface, it took a bit of getting used to, but once I actually explored the features, I found it to be a great phone. Didn't take long to pick up on how to work it. The touch screen is responsive. The call quality has been outstanding and I adore the features. The voice recognition software is perfect. Sprint has finally put out an exceptional phone, with a reasonable price and plan.
Pros:
- Feature packed
- Navigation with Live Search is awesome
- Easy to use interface
- Responsive touch screen
- Internet Browsing is fast
- Cell phone build is perfect for me. It feels sturdy.
- Fast downloads. (EVDO REV A based phone)
-Audible Navigation makes it easy to figure out where you are, and it's safer than holding the phone while you're driving.
-Music playback was outstanding.

Cons:
-Built-in memory is really limited! 32MB internal memory.

I say that the Samsung Instinct M800 is perhaps one of the better Multimedia Phones currently out in the market. This is the perfect phone for me. It has all the right features I need on a non PDA phone.

01234 Bringing Sprint Back?, Monday, July 7, 2008 - 14:12

I read recently this phone is flying off the shelves at Sprint. Finally so good news for Sprint, which has been struggling of late. I hope they keep it up. More competition in the marketplace is better for consumers.

01234 Great business phone., Friday, November 7, 2008 - 09:09

I have had this phone for 2 weeks now. I LOVE THIS PHONE.

Pros:
All touch Landscape QWERTY keyboard.
I like that it gives you the option to correct your spelling but does not auto-correct (for when I want to type in netspeak).
Email is great. I am really impressed.
Favorites and Speed Dials make using your favorite applications simple.
2 Batteries is great. I never go without a newly charged battery.
Camera quality is fine, hope it had a flash.
LIVE SEARCH is awesome. Who needs On Demand or Pocket Express when I can just say what I want and have instant results.
Visual voicemail is great and easy to use.

Cons:
No Microsoft Office Document or PDF viewer.
There?s no way to type a name to dial a contact. (This is very frustrating when you have as many contacts as I do).
There?s no way to change conversation colors in threaded text chatting. The light grey/dark grey is really hard to see the difference in the sunlight.
Can not sync phones contacts to Outlook contacts on the laptop.

Overall, I love the Samsung Instinct M800, works great for my business needs.

01234 Samsung Instinct, Tuesday, November 18, 2008 - 20:39

Is imitation the best form of flattery or do we have and original here? The Instinct hit the market to give the Iphone a run for its money. It has all the appropriate software and features. It has the GPS, 3G, and whatever other letters you can put together that means something. It also has the added feature of allowing the user to put together a favorites menu. Windows users might recognize this as a startup window. Usually there are programs there that are used the most. I was surprised to find out that in windows you can actually modify the startup. So now the Instinct has made it passed the first round and has won awards. It is asthetically pleasing. The touchscreen is responsive and you can surf the web at a high speed. But there is an expectation of doing that if you carry the 3G ability. This is a serious contender for my next phone. I am also looking at the blackberry. If you are with sprint this should be one of the forerunners for your next phone.

01234 Great value for your dollar., Tuesday, December 16, 2008 - 11:57

I replaced my fairly recent Motorola/Nextel i880 push to talk phone with the Instinct. I was getting really annoyed with the interface lag of the i880 and the lack trivial features such as being able to send a video to a friend.

While the Instinct doesn't offer all of the features of a full fledged smartphone it does pretty well for remarkably low price of $129 (with 2 year contract)

Some of the features I find useful:

* easy text input for texting and e-mailing
* the ability to enter text in landscape as well as portrait mode
* seamlessly sending pictures/videos to friends and family
* fast internet browsing and tethering
* easy to use and responsive user interface
* access to NFL mobile

Some of the features lacking from the phone:

* ability to set independent volumes for text/call/alarm ringers
* ability to transfer video via bluetooth
* lack of camera resolution settings
* lack of pre-installed IM clients for Yahoo!/AIM/Gtalk

The Instinct is worlds above Motorola IDEN phones in terms of features, ease of use and network speeds. I do miss the direct connect (tm) function from time to time but I can live without it. Overall network coverage has been much better then Nextel/IDEN however building penetration is just not there. I used to be able to use the i880 inside elevators and subway tunnels. Not so with the Instinct. On the flip side however the voice quality is much better then the i880. Even though the SAR levels for both phones are a tenth within each other the Instinct stays cool during extended conversations.

01234 Follow your instinct, Monday, March 2, 2009 - 02:36

Touchscreen is one of trends in the mobile technology nowadays. They make the consumers feel that everything is just a touch away.

Of all the available touchscreen phones in the market, Samsung Instinct can be considered as one of the best. Aside from being a mobile phone, Samsung Instinct is also a portable media player where you can listen to music and watch movies as long as you want, a 2.0 megapixel camera, a web browser, a text messenger and an email reader.

Proud of it's version of visual voice mail, Instinct doesn't require users to listen to voice mails. It displays the list of messages on the screen and you can listen to the messages in the order you choose or you can delete them even without hearing them.

Another outstanding feature of the phone is its voice-command feature. This feature allows the user to call contacts and address messages via voice command. You can also search for business address and contact numbers like in yellow pages and share these info with a friend through text message or call. You can also keep track of the latest current events, sports news, current updates and traffic status.

If you are hearing voices in your head, don't freak out. It must be your instinct, telling you to grab one of these Samsung Instinct cell phones.

01234 A Worthy Competitor, Friday, February 27, 2009 - 00:10

Sprint offers this phone for a very affordable price with a mail-in rebate so I thought this phone is the best choice if your looking for a smartphone that's comparable to the iPhone 3G.

First off, this phone is super cool with the large screen (although a bit smaller than the iPhone), which is bright and sensitive to the touch. At first I was startled by the vibrating function but it's nice since it can be turned off. It would be funny if the phone vibrates everytime you touch it. Then, it has this great GPS feature that is really one of its assets. It is very helpful and useful. The battery life is also amazing plus there are two of them from the box. Another thing that's best for me is that I can watch TV in my phone and I can multi-task, too.

The 2-megapixel camera is not that great but for me it's just right. The 2GB memory is not that small since it can be expanded up to 8 GB which can be a pretty large memory to store lots and lots of files.

I totally recommend this phone for smartphone buyers out there.
