GOOGLE ANNOUNCES HTC NEXUS ONE WITH AT&T AND ROGERS NETWORK SUPPORT

 

A new version of the Nexus One is now for sale directly from the Google web site. This new HTC Nexus One version features AT&T and Rogers network support (850/1900/2100 MHz and 850/900/1800/1900 MHz). Unfortunately, this handset costs $529 since it's unsubsidized and is not available with a contract from AT&T.

WIMAX VS. LTE: DIFFERENCES AND SIMILARITIES

 

WiMAX stands for "Worldwide Interoperability for Microwave Access,`and is a tellecommunications technology that provides wireless transmission of data using a variety of transmission modes. These modes can include point-to-multipoint links, to portable and fully mobile internet access. The technology provides up to 10Mbps broadband speed, with no need for cables. As an aside, the name "WiMAX" was created by the wiMAX Forum, which was formed in June 2001 to promote conformity and interoperability of the standard.

VERIZON WIRELESS TO LAUNCH FIRST LTE 4G HANDSET IN MID-2011

 

It appears that Verizon's first LTE 4G (Long Term Evolution) handset may arrive six months sooner than expected. Tony Malone, Verizon Wireless' chief technology officer, has revealed in a WSJ interview that the carrier's release window for its first LTE handset has been set around the middle of 2011. This upcoming Verizon Wireless handset will combine CDMA and LTE chipsets and their inherent capabilities.
